My 19 month old had one hair cut back in July...now his bangs are getting too long, almost in his eyes again, and we can't get him to hold even remotely still to try trimming them. We've tried giving him special snacks, watching tv, reading a favorite story...the moment the scissors come out he won't let them near him. I have pretended to cut my hair with them to show him it's Ok, no go. Any tricks I haven't thought of to get him still for 30 seconds to do it? He always sleeps scrunched up on his stomach, can't try it while he sleeps either....

Definitely try a kid's salon. Oddly enough, when my son was small, he would tolerate the clippers, but not scissors. The stylist was able to use the clippers to trim his hair everywhere (and not too short).

Take him to a shop where they specialize in kids' haircuts.
