once you have some favorites, ask your friends', salonist, or even Yahoo! Answers opinions.

you have a 'diamond-long square' shaped face (think a star of david with one star in a diamond shape and the other in a vertically longer rectangle). Also, you have Jessica Simpson's style face

except that her's is a little longer and you have a wider face due to your cheekbones. this shape is pretty vercitile, with your cheekbones balancing out the 'long' square part. this means you have high cheekbones, a low 'set-back' and strong jaw, a rounded looking forehead, and a tapered, slightly rounded chin. in effect; your high cheekbones mean that you don't want a haircut in which you have layers that are longer closer to your face, and shorter farther out (this would create a triangular 'pouff' and make your face seem wider), your forehead would look awesome with choppy 'straight across' bangs

but not long or short side swept bangs

(google side swept bangs, and those are more examples)

and your jaw means a slightly curly bob with volume would look nice.

Try

Short-to-medium length hair, especially with wave or roundness around the face. Wispy bangs. Off-center parts, height at the crown. You want to soften the square look of your face with layers and wispy looks around the face. Height at the crown will elongate your symmetrical shape. If your hair is straight you may want to consider a body wave, as some curl or wave to the hair will achieve a nice balance to the straight features of your face shape.

Avoid

Long straight styles that accentuate square jawbone. "Linear" straight bangs or center parts. A straight bob ending at the jaw line is the wrong thing to do for your face shape. You can wear a layered bob, however it should end above or below the jaw line. Make sure in styling that you achieve some roundness to the shape and some height at the crown or bangs, and you will be on the right track.

some famous faces with square shaped faces are demi moore and sandra bullock

i would definitely suggest getting a shorter side/swoop fringe/bang. and ask your stylist to add some more layer to your hait. you have beautiful hair, by the way. just try layering it up and add some more dimension. i'd definitely keep it longer though.
